Any comments or experience with Haynes Repair Manuals?

Anyone?
I hope they have not screwed them up in the last 20 years or so since I have bought one, but back then, they were one of the best for the home mechanic.

They have lots of pictures and give you instructions for work-arounds to specialty tools.
They start with the assumption you are a home-mechanic, rather than stating with the assumption you are factory trained like the Honda manuals.

There was another thread on them recently.

If you can get to a book store, also check out the Clymer manuals as well. I have used the Haynes, and like N_Jay says they are good to explain lots of details for the beginners.

The book store may have both kinds, even if they are not for the Pilot, you will get an idea of which style you like.

For one of my motorbikes, the Clymer is much better than the Haynes one, but for the other bike, the Haynes is better.

I have the Honda repair manual, and I have to read everything 5 times just to figure out what they are trying to say. But the diagrams are accurate, there are no pictures, where as Haynes has pictures. The pictures are only in the Honda Electrical trouble shooting manual, but that doesn't help with a brake job.

The Haynes pictures???

I want to use it manual for regular maintenance. I'm still leaving some stuff to the Honda shops.

I'm not a mechanic but a computer person :)

I have the Honda Service Manual, it's very hard to understand IMO.

Thanks for the feedback ya'll
